Logan County Farmers Market

So in 2020 this thing called COVID happened and in the Spring, no one knew what was going on. Everything was getting locked down tight. I serve on the board of my local farmer’s market and got the wild hair to make an online market with drive-thru order pickup. This would give local producers a chance to make income and our community continued access to quality food produced by their neighbors.

First, I designed journey flows for customers, vendors, and staff. Then, I used Squarespace to build an ecommerce site that allowed for an open window order time, orders to be broken up and sent to vendors to fulfill, and scheduled window for vendor drop-off and customer pick-up. It was a bit hairy at first, but once it got rolling, it went off like gangbusters.

Since the bulk of our vendors are not incredibly tech-savvy, I created multiple visual, walk-thru tutorials for uploading product information and product photos, as well as updating their inventory levels from week to week.

Ultimately, the community embraced the online marketplace. It created a new revenue stream for the farmer’s market and has become a regular market for the off-season as well.
