Roman is a drop-out who learns by doing. Over the years, he's cultivated a healthy fascination with adaptability, utility and simplicity. His career has taken a wild and wonderful path through photography, street art, printmaking, physical and digital design and most recently fabrication. The accumulation of these skills and ways of thinking has created a gentle beast. Roman is a builder. He is cosmic. He says it like it is and calls 'em like he sees 'em. Don't take it too seriously. Life isn't that serious.

These days, Roman spends his time leading Sojourn Fare, a company he founded that builds connected hardware enclosures that create the ideal incubation and fruiting environments for cultivating mushrooms. Because of Sojourn Fare, Roman was highlighted as one of Chicago's entrepreneurs to keep an eye on by ChicagoInno. He also builds brands, experiences and custom fabrications as the co-founder of Great Wide Open.

Nerdalogues presents "Your Stories"

The Nerdalogues
Chicago, Illinois USA
April 2017

DETAILS
This weekend, we welcome our first guest curator: Tanner Woodford, the executive director of the Chicago Design Museum. Ahead of the museum’s new exhibition Dan Friedman: Radical Modernist, Tanner curates a weekend of events inspired by this designer and artist who was friends with Basqiuat, Jeff Koons, and Keith Haring and was the epitome of the ‘80s and ‘90s aesthetic: neon colors, spray paint, equal parts polish and grit.

This evening, Tanner invites the Nerdologues to host their Your Stories podcast in the Music Room where guests, including Craighton Berman of Manual Studio, Christen Carter of Busy Beaver Button Company, Alex Cox of Cards Against Humanity, Roman Titus of Sojourn Fare and Sam Rosen of The Post Family, will tell stories around the theme of radicalism.

With prototypes housed at Google Chicago's restaurant as well as others, he is working toward understanding and defining his market while iterating through various prototypes of Sojourn Fare. On this night, Roman will present us with the story of Sojourn Fare, share the obstacles he's run up against, and we'll wrap by sitting down with Roman in an intimate discussion about his experience starting his first hardware company.
